Interactive Speech Resources

TellMe Studio

TellMe Studio is a service that will provide free voice recognition using VoiceXML.

When you sign up, you are required to provide a 5-digit identifier.  I suggest you use your Zip code.  If you cannot use the normal 5 digit code, I suggest you use the last 5 digits of the full 9 digit Zip code.  If not, then make something up that you can remember.

Voice XML 2.0

The VoiceXML specification is an abstraction for Voice commands that is being standardized by the W3C.  It helps make creating interactive voice-based applications easier.

When building your project, you can have TellMe Studio point to an XML file on your own web server.  The project pass-off may require that you hand in the URL to your XML file.  Dr. Olsen will hash this out with you later.  Each student at BYU has their own space for producing their own Web site.  For more details about where this is, how to configure it, etc.  Go here: http://docs.cs.byu.edu/docs/web-setup/.  You should only need the basic functionality of the student web server to use the public_html directory to hold and use your XML file(s).
